An estimated 68% of people in the US have pets. There are so many benefits to having a pet, and being able to care for pets that have been abandoned, hurt, or lost. Although research isn’t conclusive, therapy animals can help those with mental or physical illness.
Interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure.
Celebrate by taking your dog out on the town. Many local shops will offer a “doggy-sized” treat. (Ben & Jerry’s makes a Doggie Dessert)
